Bits, Bytes, & Radio Waves

A quiet journey through discovery and understanding.

  • MyLab: The Virtual Machine

Overview Since I am a big fan of VMware, all of my lab will be built using VMware technology. I am using ESXi 7.0 U3 on my base host to build up a nested virtualized environment.

  • MyLab: Microsoft Remote Desktop Session Host (RDSH)

Overview I am choosing to install Microsoft Remote Desktop Session Host servers to host published applications. I am going to use an automated farm which means there will be a virtual machine that will act as a single “golden image” and will be replicated to more than one. This eases management when installing new applications…

  • MyLab: VMware Unified Access Gateway (UAG)

Overview I am choosing to install VMware Unified Access Gateway (UAG) 23.09 (current at the time of writing) so that I can access my Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) without the hassle of using a Virtual Private Network (VPN).

Notes from practice

I use this site to document systems, configurations, and lessons learned as I work through real problems—both professionally and through personal experimentation. The goal is clarity: understand how something works, explain why it behaves the way it does, and make it reliable and repeatable.

These notes are written primarily for myself, but shared openly in case they help someone else avoid a dead end or reduce frustration. If you’d like to learn more, visit the About page.

If you have questions or comments, you’re always welcome to contact me.
